Opened in 2001 on the Mesogeia plain, east of Mount Hymettus, Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport is Greece's main airport. It operates 24/7 with two parallel 4,000 m runways, and a dedicated general aviation terminal welcomes private flight passengers. It is also the ideal starting point for flying on to the islands by private jet.
The airport is coordinated: every flight needs an arrival and departure slot. We request it with the operator as soon as you book, including for a late-evening departure, since the airport is open 24/7.
The country is part of the Schengen area: no border checks when flying from France or Switzerland. From London, border police check passports on arrival; we send the passenger list in advance.
Allow around 40 minutes by road to central Athens outside rush hour, and about the same to the Athens Riviera. Your chauffeur-driven car waits for you at the aircraft or at the terminal exit.
